Well, I am back on track to achieve my goal of being an Ordained Deacon. I have applied to Salisbury University to obtain my Bachelor degree. I am now on pain management for chronic pain so, if any of you out there pray please pray for me. I have to be able to have the means to get an MRI and surgery if needed, as I have no health insurance, so that I can continue on my journey that God has called me to do. I know that God won’t let me down, He never does, and that the funds will come. Anyway, I am back on track no matter how hard it may be for I am determined to not let the pain rule my life. My favorite scripture is, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. This scripture (and God’s grace) got me through obtaining the associates degree I now posess and it will get me through the next step as well.

I was reading Revelations in my Bible this morning and it really makes me think that we are truly living in the last days. This last section of the Bible is prophetic and tells us what is coming for those who are believers and for those who are nonbelievers in Jesus Christ. I am one of the fortunate ones who is a believer. For those who are not my heart breaks! It tells of the pestilence, plaques, famines, earthquakes and such that are going to happen before the end of time and there are so many happening right now that it makes me want to tell the world even more about Jesus and how everyone can be saved form this horrific scene at the end of the world. People have been duped into believing that Satan is not real. What a scam! The devil is alive and well and living on planet earth. Just look at how the world has become financially inept, the rampant immorality, the kidnapping of children and selling them into sex slavery (yes in this country), and the lack of compassion and empathy for the human race as a whole. I want to tell everyone Wake Up!! Read the Bible and ask someone who Jesus is (a pastor would be good). Find out about Jesus and let Him be the King of your heart before it is too late. Satan is but a fallen angel, but angels possess enough power to do a lot of damage! They are created beings to do God’s will, and by no means equal in power to God, yet Satan thinks he is. That is why he is here and not in Heaven. Please wake up and realize that there is too much evil in this world and turn to Jesus to be saved form it.

Prayer for the day:
O Lord, let faithfulness grow ever stronger in us each day that we are alive. We pray our faithfulness will strengthen not only us, but everyone we touch, and inspire others to greater faithfulness, too. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray this prayer. Amen

I believe this is important because there is very little information available to the general public on how to properly dispose of swimming pool and spa water without doing damage to the environment. After emptying my pool this past summer I discovered that I had to allow the water to stand for about a week for the chemical levels in the pool to be nill before it was drained into the compost pile, and through leaves, so that it would not run into the adjacent stream. After much web-searching, and talking to a new pool and spa company owner who has had over twenty years experience with pools and spas, I found out that there are many chemicals that are not neutralized before the contaminated water is released into rivers and eventually into the Chesapeake Bay. The pool owners are advised to dispose of their pool or spa water in a responsible way, but many are in a hurry to have the pool opened for the holiday weekend, Memorial Day, or simply are not concerned about the damage they are causing by emptying their water into the rivers without first draining it through their lawns at least. They are concerned that it will ruin their lawns and it makes me think, “what will it do to the river if you do not want it on your lawns?”

Many of the pool and spa company owners are well aware of the Clean Water Act and what the regulations are to dispose of the contaminated water responsibly, but are not training their technicians to dispose of said water according to regulations. In many cases the pool technicians that handle the weekly pool maintenance, opening the pools, and closing the pools are ignorant of the regulations and procedures. There are many chemicals in the pool and spa water such as chlorine, algaecides, alkalinity stabilizers, oxidizers, etc. that are released into the waterways and eventually into the Bay. Not only will it harm aquatic life, it will be passed on to us in the form of bacterial illnesses. This will eventually cause the loss of aquatic life altogether if some thing is not done. Even when the contaminated water is “dumped” in the storm sewers it is “cleaned” with more harmful chemicals such as Sulfur Dioxide and Sodium Metabisulfite before it is released into the waterways. Another thing to think about is the chemicals that are affecting the aquatic life are also threatening our drinking water supply.

There is a video, on youtube, that showed how they used to dispose of sodium in 1947:

I am glad that is not in practice any longer, but think about how much damage has already been done to our waterways. As pool and spa owners we should be more diligent in disposing of our contaminated water so as to not harm our environment. I hope this post gets attention and we can work together to make our environment cleaner and less toxic. Who would have thought that owning a swimming pool or a spa would lead to harming the environment even further than it has been marred by being irresponsible with disposing of the water when repairing or emptying a pool for the winter. I look forward to your feedback and comments.
